RE: Sign Up for Emergency Notification System!
We are prepared to launch Bronc Alert, UTPA's new emergency notification system and you have the opportunity to sign up for text messaging, email, and recorded announcement alerts in the event of a crisis or natural disaster on campus.
This is the result of a two-year review of UTPA emergency management procedures in the wake of the Virginia Tech crisis and your participation is imperative to this program’s effectiveness.
To be included in this free, voluntary opt-in emergency notification system, you must sign up using the web at: http://www.utpa.edu/emergency Log in with your UTPA I.D. and password, and complete the information on the Webpage. You will then be asked to supply a personal e-mail address, a cell phone number where you can be sent a text message (SMS) and two phone numbers (such as your home and that of your parents) where you can receive a recorded announcement.
In the event of an emergency, the alert system will automatically send a warning and safety instructions to each of your electronic devices.
I strongly encourage all of you to join me in signing up for this very important service! Rest assured, the contact information you supply will not be shared with anyone else, and will be used only for emergency purposes.
In closing, I again want to encourage a caring work environment. I urge you to reach out, support and be responsible for each other. This may prove to be the greatest protection for our campus community.
